When my website went down, something weird happened to this blog: the beautiful header which I had for so many years also disappeared.
I decided to take it as a sign and decided to give the blog a new look...I'm still working on it.
All the original posts are still there, but those beautiful touches are gone.
I'll be playing around with it so it will probably change appearance every so often...tune in!

The Romance Studio's annual CAPA awards have been announced and BABES has been nominated in the BEST EROTIC ANTHOLOGY category!! To say I'm thrilled is an understatement. We'll get our official logo to post the week of January 5th.
I call this the little anthology that could, as far as reviews go. They've been outstanding! In fact, we received a FIVE Star one from a reader/reviewer on Mobipockets this week:
Everything you could ever want in an athology - (Amber on 20 December 2008) I love anthologies b/c they introduce me to many different authors. This set has heat ratings from great mainstream to OMG hot. I don't have room to rave over each of the stories, but this is a winter collection sure to keep you warm. Definitely one for my keeper shelf and I know I'll be looking for more from these authors.

So nice to learm that the Babes in Toyland II anthology received 4.5 tombstones from Bittenbybooks
Babes in Toyland is a series of short stories, most of which take place around Christmastime. Each of the authors has contributed some excellent short stories to the anthology. Its ranged from Santa Claus to fey. There were some mysteries, some paranormal, a story even took place back in the days of the Israelites. This book definitely covered a wide spectrum of paranormal stories. And of course, was the ever present romantic theme. I wouldn’t recommend this book for young eyes though. There are some heavy romance scenes in the book.
I rarely read anthologies because of the short story aspect, but I found myself hungering for more at the end of each story. I liked it because it introduced me to the writings of a few new authors that I may not have found otherwise. So, if you’re looking for some light reading as a break from the normal heavy novel, then this book is definitely for you. Most anthologies only contain 4 or 5 stories, this one is definitely worth your money with 8 authors and different stories!

The historical background is accurate and appealing, and the author doesn’t burden the story with excessive detail. Rather, the historical characters as well as the two contemporary protagonists-Brand and Ron-are well-drawn and realistic. It’s easy to empathize with the various characters and understand their actions and thoughts. There is a very minor thread of historical BDSM present also.

The eroticism is highly detailed and steaming, presented from an emotional and romantic viewpoint as well as a purely lustful point of view. Brand and Ron are neatly matched and fit together surprisingly well.

Hi guys, I just had to share my first formal review for "The Sweet Flag" from The Romance Studio's Dee Dailey:

"Ms. Barrack has written an exceptional story about gay romance with many historical tidbits thrown in... The story of the two sets of lovers is interwoven well with only a few subtle hints about what might be to come... As Ron tells the tale that he says he learned from the lovers' diaries it's easy to get our emotions involved.

The rejections, the abuses finally overpowered by love are superbly told. The dialogue, the explicit sex, the tale within a tale are all believable and draw us closer to the players. When Brandon finally confronts reality with Ron their actions and the completion of the story make perfect sense...

The author does such a great job of giving hints that only fans of paranormal romance will pick up on along the way. The ending is even better as the reality of the couples takes the story to whole new heights."

#1 I love Canada. Why? Because my dad was born in Montreal and I love the accents - both French and English! Plus, I'm a big fan of Gordon Lightfoot.
#2 I don't have a driver's license. Grew up in Brooklyn and just never got around to it.
#3 I cry at commercials - and not just the sappy ones.
#4 I cry when I hear menus read - Huh? Yes, hearing a waiter lovingly describe the succulence of some exotic dish can make me weep and drool with anticipation
#5 I have a crush on Mariska Hargitay - Love the character she plays on Law & Order SVU -You may not know it but she's Jayne Mansfield's daughter. I'd kill for her cheekbones!

Well, seems Dave Harris, the hot NYC detective in "The Game", my story in the BIT:II anthology,

was interviewed by Michelle.

He didn't know what he was getting himself into!
Here's what went down taken from Michelle's notes.

INTERVIEW

After Kayleigh left I told Tina she didn’t have to continue wearing the elf costume. I couldn’t resist adding that if she kept misbehaving she’d be back to wearing it before too long.

Tina brought me a cup of hot chocolate and winked before she spun around to answer the door. Her docile behavior worried me more than my next interview.

“Michelle?”

I almost choke on my hot chocolate. Dave Harris’s sudden appearance catches me off guard. I quickly set my cup down and greet my guest. Dave’s good looks throw me for a loop. Six foot two, curly, short brown hair and eyes Paul Newman blue. And wearing a gold detective’s shield on his jacket pocket. I start to drool.

“Thank you for joining me tonight.” I put down my file and pick up my notepad and pen.

“Hey, when the captain called to tell me you had a lead on the sex club murder I was investigating, I had to come.” He laughs, his voice rich and seductive.

I wriggle on my chair. “I hope you don’t mind if I take notes this way. The last time I used a tape recorder there were…difficulties.”

He laughs again. I’m in trouble. “Honey, I feel for you. Here’s what I use.” He pulls out a small notebook. “I can barely access my voice mail.”

“Thanks.” I smile and try to remind myself he’s off limits. “Are you ready to get started? Can I offer you some refreshments? Food and beverage, name your desire and my super-efficient helper Tina will be delighted to bring it.” I ignore Tina’s glare—it’s getting old—and smile at my guest.

“Wouldn’t mind a cup of coffee. Black, two sugars. Anything tastes better than the swill they serve down at the station.

After Dave settled into his chair, I raised my pen and smiled. “What are you?”

“New Yorker born and bred. Well, from Brooklyn to be accurate. Only son of Jake and Molly Harris. I played center in High School. Single,” He looks at me in a way that makes my wavering defenses crumble, “Still looking, well, looking but nothing more than that. I always appreciate a good-looking woman.” How can any woman resist that heated playful look?

“So what do you do for a living, and do you enjoy it?”

“I’m a cop. I work vice and I deal with murderers and pimps and the dregs of the city. I got my detective’s shield five years ago. Do I enjoy it?” He laughs again and shakes his head. The man is too potent. I move in my seat again. “I enjoy putting away scumbags. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction to know I’ve made the streets safer for my neighbors. Yeah, I guess I do enjoy it.”

“I love cops.” As soon as I blurt it out I blush and bury my face in my notebook. “I mean—ah—your work is much appreciated. What do you do for fun?”

Dave winks and I try not to swoon. “Baby, I really can’t tell you what I do for fun. But I do enjoy playing games.” He leans closer and takes my hand, playing with my fingers. “With anybody.”

“Well, shit.” I blush again and try to decide if I should tug my hand free or not. His smile is devastating, and I don’t want to embarrass myself. “Do you have any hobbies or interesting information about yourself you’d like to share?”

“Well, I’m into basketball. Friendly game every week with the guys in homicide. I have a room mate, best friend from High School.” His deep chuckle rumbles through me, and I try not to shiver. No doubt he felt it anyway as he was still playing with my fingers. The man was hot like fire! “We’re kinda like “The Odd Couple” -- he’s Felix, you know, neat freak, irons his underwear. Me, I’m Oscar, sort of a slob, love sports. Frankie takes care of me. We have season tickets to the Knicks. “

“It’s a good way to stay in shape too.” He smiles and I give up pretending I’m immune to him. I clear my throat, tug my hand free and fan myself. I’m supposed to be taking notes. “What are your plans for this holiday season? Which holidays do you celebrate, if any, and how do you celebrate them?”

“Well, I’m taking my girlfriend home to meet my folks. She’s never been to a Jewish household during Chanukah. My mother is going to be happy she has someone to fatten up. Latkes - potato pancakes - she makes so many of them she packs ‘em up for me to take back to my apartment. My cousins and their kids celebrate with us and the kids play Dreidle.” He chuckles again as I curse inwardly. Of course he’s taken. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! “The last time I played that game, it was sure different!”

“So about your girlfriend, what’s her name?”

“Shari Nelson.”

“Can you tell us about her?”

“Shari? She’s a redhead, sexy as hell. Adventurous, smart, talented. Did I say, sexy?” He gives a wicked laugh that should be considered a lethal weapon. “We’ve only been together a short time, but it’s been the most intense relationship in my life. There are hidden depths to her that intrigue me. We’ve just begun to know each other. We’re planning a weekend away before the holiday. She may just be the one.”

“Most would consider you lucky to have a catch like that. I hope you two have a good time. I’d like to ask you more about the way you play Dreidle, but Tina is making slashing gestures across her throat.” I blush as he laughs again. “What are your goals for the rest of the year?”

“Doing my job the best way I can. Putting away the POS - that’s “pieces of s***” that dirty up the streets. And maybe making my relationship with Shari permanent. But that last, I don’t know. There’s a lot about her I haven’t learned yet. And, crap, there’s a lot about myself I don’t know.”

“Perhaps this trip is just what you two need. To figure things out, that is. Thank you so much for joining me tonight. I really enjoyed getting to know you.” I hope he doesn’t realize HOW much I enjoyed this interview.

He laughs and takes my hand again and kisses it. “Wanna come up to the cabin with me and Shari? We could get to know each other even more. Somehow I don’t think Shari would mind.” He leers playfully. “I know I wouldn’t.”

I’m about to put down my notebook and agree when Tina comes over and puts her hand on my shoulder. “She’d love to, Dave, but she has several more interviews to conduct before the release. You know how it is, business before pleasure.”

"Well, you didn't have anything new on that murder case, but hell, I needed a break from interviewing hookers." He nods and winks before he saunters out of the room. I can’t muster the words to respond as I watch his fine ass.

“You better get ready for your next guest.” Tina pats my back and picks up the dirty dishes.

I sigh and reach for the next folder. She’s right. Unfortunately.

I poured out my love and knowledge of Irish culture in this one.

In the Grand Tour post, I mentioned the delicious piadina bread. Here's an excerpt from the story where Abby and Antonio take full advantage of the tasty delights of piadina!

"Come, bella, are you hungry? We can raid the kitchen.”
Abby giggled. They had barely entered the foyer when Antonio’s stomach rumbled so loudly it echoed in the immense room.
“Even if I weren’t hungry, how could I say no to your tummy’s demands?”
They pilfered the contents of Renata’s pantry, giggling like children. Leftover piadina was heated up and dipped in olive oil. The dripping oil was sucked off seeking fingers as Abby wound up seated on Antonio’s lap. The designer clothes lay on the floor while he smeared her breasts with the fragrant olive oil, suckling her glistening nipples. The slice of bread slipped from her limp hand and her head fell back as he slid his fingers between her swollen folds. She would have tumbled from his lap if he hadn’t supported her.
With a groan, she drew back, her voice breathy as she begged him to either stop or finish her off.
* * * *
“Oh, bella, ti amo.”
He cupped her face in his hands and drew her lips closer. Slowly, he nudged them open and dipped his tongue within her mouth.
She sighed and melted against him. Her arms went around him so tightly she could feel his heart beat. Her nipples puckered and she grew damp. “Take me to bed. Make love to me.”
He brought her to his room, laid her on the bed and joined her there. For a while he just held her, whispering love words in her ear. Soon, the words grew more impassioned as he described what he wanted to do to her, with her. Then the words gave way to action and there was no more need for words. Sighs, gasps and groans were the only audible sounds.
And when they came, cries of joy.

The Collector Series: The Grand Tour - Stop #1- Italy

Your first stop on The Grand Tour is Ferrara, Italy, land of the Borgias. On your stop in Ferrara, enjoy the taste of Italy and a recipe from the Emilia -Romagna region.
Piadina Romagnola
Makes Nine 7-inch breads
1/2 teaspoon active dried yeast
1 cup warm milk (110-115F.)
2 tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
3 cups (12 ounces) or 340 grams Unbleached, All-Purpose Flour
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
Dissolve the yeast in the milk in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the dough hook. Let stand 5 minutes. Pour in the olive oil. Add the flour and salt and process the mixture until a ball of dough forms. The dough should feel soft and silky and not stick to your hands. Carefully remove the dough to a work surface and knead it a few times with your hands. Transfer the dough to a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 30 minutes. Meanwhile heat a non stick sauté pan over medium heat or heat an electric non-stick skillet to 350F. Punch down the dough and form it into an 18-inch long rope. Cut 9 two inch pieces from the rope and roll each one into a 7-inch circle. Poke the top of each round with a fork. Place the rounds in the pan or skillet and bake them until they begin to get brown specks on the underside. Turn the rounds over and bake the other side. As you bake them, transfer them to a cooling rack. The rounds should be thin and pliable. When cool they can be served with a variety of cured meats, olives, and cheeses.

Inspiration for The Crystal Flacon

When I was looking for inspiration for the crystal perfume bottle for Lucrezia, I wanted something rich and exotic. I found this gorgeous blue crystal bottle from the early renaissance. It would have fit perfectly in Lucrecia's palm.

It's all soft, feminine curves -- very sexy. I can just imagine it filled with the magical aphrodisiac perfume that Lucrezia used.

Abby is quite the capable heroine while Antonio is a very smooth, exciting hero. His thought processes were fun to follow. He carefully thought out his actions and did not jump to conclusions - something that can be unusual. The plot itself was intriguing and kept your interest as you followed along. Jeanne Barrack tied everything with beauty and intricacy. Having read several of The Collector books, The Crystal Flacon is an excellent addition,enjoyable to all readers. It does not matter if you have read the earlier ones. The Crystal Flacon is enjoyable by itself. Kudos for Jeanne Barrack,for writing another delightful novel for our reading pleasure.

It's A New Year!

A lot has happened in my life, both professional and personal this past year. Since this is a new year, I'd rather concentrate on the good stuff.

First, "A Song of the Sidhe" was nominated for the Romance Studio's CAPA award for the best Erotic Fantasy romance! I am so thrilled about this! The category is small and I am the only nominee in it from Loose Id. I'm up against some big guns, too. Whatever the outcome, it was an honor to be nominated.

This month my sixth novel from Loose Id comes out.
"The Collector 5: The Crystal Flacon" is part of a multi-author series about the mysterious Collector and his quest to claim all the pieces of a love totem. My story was inspired by the much-maligned Lucrezia Borgia. In real life, she was beloved of her husband, Alfonso, Duke d'Este and the people of Ferrara, Italy where she spent the happiest years of her life.
I'm looking forward to this year -- who know what surprises await me!

Julie’s friends were not just figureheads that I got quick glances of every now and then. They each had a story and they were all dramatic. One of the most entertaining characters was Tzahyad...I liked him and found him not only interesting, but attractive as well, although, as the novel continued he morphed into the villain from the ninth circle of hell. Which, I must say, I found exciting as well...I could not help turning the page to see what or whom he was going to take advantage of next. Interview with Richard Cerqueira - Part two

What do you enjoy most about your profession? What do you enjoy the least?
I enjoy the praise and attention. The pay for cover modeling is not very good (even if it’s a national magazine like Esquire) they figure it’s a bit of a privilege to be on the cover and that it’s self- promoting so the pay is very limited. For mainstream modeling however the pay is wonderful as well as the locations you shoot in and the perks you get; from celebrity packed parties at VIP rooms to expensive free designer clothes. Another fun thing is that once in a while someone recognizes you on the street and asks for a picture and/or autograph; sure is flattering. The part I like the least is the irregularity of work, you can go long lengths of time without booking any jobs, the same down sides apply for actors. I also don’t like to always have to watch what I eat and constantly have to maintain my body in such great shape. I love the way being in great shape feels and looks, but believe me I would also like to just take it easy and eat anything and everything I want for a while and just take a along vacation from the gym.
What was your most enjoyable shoot? Your funniest?
I can’t recall any particular shoot that has been the most enjoyable, but I will say this much, when the model you work with is beautiful inside and out, and you and she click, the time just flies by and the pictures look that much better. The funniest shoot, if you can call it that, was for a cover that I was dressed as a Native American Indian and had to wear real Indian clothes. Well, if you know anything about some tribes’ clothes, there isn’t much there, I was nearly naked for the shoot, bare assed with just a minimal piece of suede covering my goods…we all laughed at my getup when I came out of the dressing room. I had to re-adjust the outfit with every pose to keep from having a “wardrobe malfunction”.
How long a day do you generally work?
I no longer model full time, when I did it was like any other job, a full day that sometimes had great rewards and sometimes seemed like an exercise in futility. A book cover shoot takes only about an hour, so you can easily do several in a day if booked. Are there certain times of the year when you’re busier than others? Summertime is the busy time for the modeling industry, but it is really very irregular.
If you had to pick a favorite picture of yourself, what would it be?
A photographer by the name of John Falocco has taken several series of photos of me mainly in black and white. There is one photo of myself, where I am wearing striped, spandex shorts and I am pulling the shorts down to just the point where there is nothing X-rated showing yet sexuality is clearly implied. In this photo I was at probably the most fit I have ever been. It's an old photo, taken basically when I got started in modeling, but it is probably my favorite to this day.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to put more energy into trying to land an acting job. I have gotten several requests to audition for a few daytime soaps as a leading man, but so far, nothing has panned out. I also have a fledgling Jeep parts business where I sell components that I have actually designed myself, so I have hopes that one day I will be able to generate substantial income from this labor of love. Of course, I’ll continue to model and acting just as long as they keep asking me to regardless of what I do in the future.

It's February, and with Valentine's Day coming, I thought what better way to mark the day than with an interview with Richard Cerqueira, tall, dark and hot! This is the first part of the interview. Tune in tomorrow for Part Two.

Tell us a little about yourself first. Where you were born, family, hobbies, your education. What’s your sign? (LOL)
I was born in Elmhurst, Queens NY. My father was born in Portugal, and my mother was born in Brazil. I have a brother who is three years my junior and a sister who is only five years old. As far as hobbies, I love to create things; as such, I enjoy occupying my spare time with anything that has to do with designing, and fabricating. I am especially fond of home improvements and automotive customization; my main interest as of late has been Jeeps. I enrolled as a full time student at St. John’s University where I was a pre-med and fine arts student. I graduated with a BS in biology and a minor in fine art… I earned a master’s degree in cellular biology from Adelphi University… I have also completed several acting courses at three different drama schools in NYC. By the way, I am an Aries, born on April 17th.
When did you decide you wanted to become a cover model? Was it tough breaking into the business?
I really didn’t decide I wanted to be one, I was basically invited. At the time of my first cover, I was a fledgling TV actor and a part time mainstream model. I was doing skits on most of the then novelty daytime TV talk shows. Often acting wasn’t even involved; duties varied from dressing like an Egyptian slave carrying Cybil Shepard (Cleopatra) out to Rosie O'Donnell’s stage, to getting in bed with a sexy female model on the Ricki Lake Show while pretending to be a stuck-up lover that had very little to be stuck up about. On one of the shows that I worked on a nearly daily basis, The Richard Bey Show, Mr. Curvin Krout, a former Ford Models talent scout got in touch with the show’s producers and informed them that he was interested in working with me. In no time, he had me meet with a Media Photo Group studio rep, and about a week later, I did my first cover with Pino himself (the artist responsible for Fabio’s fame). After that, one cover just led to another.
How do you maintain that great body? Did you always have such a terrific physique? It’s the same for me as with anyone else, I eat healthy, either by watching my caloric intake or with a no-carbohydrate diet, and I go to the gym. I was never very athletic, but I always loved to bike and I love to ski. I would say my body has always been pretty good since I have always controlled the amount I consumed even before I really realized that this was the key to staying fit. Eating just the right amount seemed to come naturally; perhaps it was due to my rather attractive and vain parents’ upbringing or just my ability to recognize my body’s needs and not to over saturate it with that which it did not. My arms have always been muscular, so with heavy training they just responded that much better than most.
Tell us about your first big break. When was it? Did you feel nervous? And, inquiring minds want to know, was it with or without a shirt? It was a few years ago now. I think it’s been almost 10 years since my first cover…jeez time flies. I was very nervous, I didn’t know what to do. I also wanted to look as pumped up and lean as possible, so holding my muscles at maximum tension was on my mind the whole time we were shooting. It was quite awkward (but in a good way) to be in these very romantic embraces with a girl that I had only met for the first time a few minutes prior. I needed a lot of direction that first time, and I was eager to impress, the photographer, artist and female model. I think I succeeded, the cover came out very good… one of my nicer book covers I think. Of course the photographer, artist and other model also played a large role in that cover’s success. I was shirtless and was quite muscular and lean at the time since I was also a full time fitness and fashion model in addition to working on the TV shows, which we shot 99% of the time with no shirt on and wearing only skimpy hot shorts and construction boots.

After spending an entire week focused on promotional chats, I've decided that they're fun, but, boy, they take a lot of work! I'm not just talking about the time over the course of 24 hours when you're out there chatting. Getting excerpts and fun stuff ready to add some spice can take a sizeable amount of time. But the benefit you get out of touching base with readers and other writers makes up for it. Just wish I had more time to make up the time I lost with my writing that I spent communicating.

Lady Luck

He couldn’t figure it out.
He had been watching her for more than two nights now and still couldn’t figure out how she was doing it, how she was winning. She flitted from game to game, trying them all -- roulette, blackjack, poker, dice. You name it and she had tried it. And won. Every time.
And walked away from each game each night after winning a sizeable amount of money.
The only way he could figure it out was by getting close to her. Very close.
And tonight was the night.
Tony Banners, dressed to the nines in a rented tuxedo that somehow on him looked tailor-made, drew near the beautiful blonde with the calm demeanor and the mesmerizing green eyes. She stood alone at the roulette table, an island of serenity amid the noise and frazzled nerves of the crowd. She wore a simple black sheath with spaghetti straps. Cut straight across the chest, it only hinted at the beautiful breasts hidden beneath the velvet. A filmy, silver shawl had slipped from her shoulders and was held captive by her slim, curved arms. When she twisted around to accept a bubbling glass of champagne from a waiter, he saw that the dress plunged to the dimples in her lush buttocks. She turned back to the roulette wheel and placed her bet.
“Number 13, black.”
Tony did the same. By copying her bets he had acquired a sizable amount of cash in the hotel safe.
But it was not enough.
Now he wanted more than just the money. He wanted her. It would, as they say, kill two birds with one stone. Once she was his, her uncanny luck would also be his.
It was time.
The wheel spun, blurring the numbers and colors until finally it slowed down. All eyes watched as the small metal ball skipped and jumped around and around. At last, it rested. On number 13, black. Tony had had no doubt that it would. Now to make his move.
“You’re Lady Luck, right?” He asked in a voice that had charmed both women and men to do whatever he requested.
Startled, the elegant fair-haired female gazed at him. “Lady Luck? Were you speaking to me?”
Her voice was whiskey soft with an accent he couldn’t quite place.
He nodded. “Yes, yes I was. It’s obvious that you’re Lady Luck. You win all the time.”
Gay, unaffected laughter bubbled from her mouth. Her hand briefly rested on his arm as she giggled like a schoolgirl. Stifling the last of her mirth, she responded to his non-too-subtle overture. “I don’t win all the time, Mr.?”
“Banners. Anthony Banners. Please call me Tony.” He shook his head. “You’re wrong. I couldn’t help but notice that you never lose. Every game you played, you won.”
“You’ve been watching me?” Her perfectly plucked brows arched up in astonishment.
“Yes. And I’ve been unable to tell if you’re cheating. Besides, you have much too honest a face. So...Lady Luck.”
He took her slim hand and bowed over it gracefully, bringing it to his lips and kissing it, his mouth lingering, his tongue impudently darting out to lick her pearly-white skin. He could feel her tremble as he held her fingers longer than appropriate. He straightened up, but retained her slim fingers in his hand.
“There are some things that I don’t win, Mr. Banners.” With a shy show of reluctance, she withdrew her hand and tucked it behind her back.
He cocked his head. “Tony, please. And what have you lost?”
“My heart. Over and over again. And still I continue to play for the highest stakes.” Her voice was almost inaudible in the noisy Las Vegas casino.
“Perhaps you haven’t been playing with the correct partner. Perhaps you just need to try your luck with someone new.”
Once more he took her hand, but this time he gently sucked each finger. His eyes caught hers as he brought her palm to his mouth and licked her lifeline like a playful kitten laps the sweetest cream. She shuddered once more.
“Come on, sweetheart. Come play with me.”
Without a word, she gathered up her winnings, shoving them into her black clutch purse. With the ease of long experience, he took in the fact that the purse was filled with chips. He plucked up her shawl that had slipped to the floor and draped it over her shoulders. With great care, he caressed the smooth skin. Still silent, he followed her out of the casino and into the elevator to the hotel’s rooms.
As soon as the door closed, leaving them alone in the lift, he spun her around, knelt behind her and kissed the sweet flesh at the base of her spine. Inch by inch, he licked his way up her back, ending at her vulnerable nape. Her sharp intake of breath revealed his effect on her.
“Your name, darling. What’s your name?” He whispered his question in her ear, nipped at her ear lobe and kissed the jointure of her neck and shoulder.
“Bonnie. Bonnie Chance”
“A beautiful name. A perfect name”
The keycard smoothly opened the door to the penthouse suite where she was staying. He cast a casual look at the expensive clothes that lay strewn on the chaise lounge. A full bar covered one mirrored wall with bottles of the finest liquors and wine lined up on top of it. A large basket of fruit sat on the round table near the entryway of the room. Scooping up an apple, he bit into the firm juicy flesh. Already he could picture biting into her sweet flesh. He watched her unclasp her earrings.
“Where are you from, honey?”
“Oh, here and there. And you?” Laughter lit up her eyes and spilled over.
“There and here.” He laughed back.
“I’m surprised I haven’t run into you before this.”
“Bad luck.” He smiled. “And my luck is obviously turning.”
She kicked off her shoes and glided closer to him. In her stocking feet she barely reached his shoulder. She was small but perfectly formed. His hands itched to undress her and feel her hot silky skin next to his.
“Are you comfortable, Tony? You look a bit hot in that jacket.”
He nodded and shrugged out of his coat, letting it drop on the floor. He loosened his tie and slipped it off; it tumbled on top of the jacket. “You’re right. It is hot. And babe, I am hot, hot for you." He moved in front of her, his hands hovering near her smooth, white shoulders. "Tell me, are you hot, too?"
She looked up at him, her gaze locking with his. “I think so. I think it is all together too hot in this room. How can we take care of this situation?” She stepped even closer to him and fingered his crisp linen shirt. “Shall we turn up the air-conditioner?”
“I know a better way to get comfortable.” He reached around her and slid down the zipper of her dress. Pushing the straps off her shoulders, he revealed the lush breasts hidden by the velvet material. Her nipples puckered up, offering themselves to his mouth. Bending down, he took one cherry ripe nub between his lips and suckled greedily. She moaned and grabbed onto his shoulders to keep from falling.
“Sweet. So sweet.”
“Wait,” she ordered. “Your shirt. Take it off.”
In his haste to comply, he almost tore off the buttons. The need to feel her skin next to his intensified and soon he had stripped off his pants and briefs. His erection was enormous.
With a supple movement of her hips, her dress fell to the floor. She wore only a black garter belt and thigh-high black stockings. She bent over as if about to remove the garter.
“Stop. Sit down on the bed. Let me do it.” His strident tones revealed a tension he could hardly restrain.
She sat at the edge of the bed and Tony knelt between her shapely legs. Her thatch was as golden as the hair on her head. He pressed his face between her thighs and inhaled her arousal. He unhooked her stockings, one by one. With a seductive slowness, he rolled them down her legs. His lips and tongue followed the erotic path. As each stocking fell to the floor, he drew her foot into his mouth and lapped at her polished toes. Soon she was naked, her legs spread wide enough for him to fondle her. She was wet and hot for him. He grinned; she was so very hot for him.
With a slight push, she fell back onto the mattress. He straddled her, his rod nudging the entrance to her woman’s core.
“Open your eyes, sweetheart and look at me. I feel lucky.” He smiled down at her. “I feel you.”
“And am I your lucky piece?” She reached up to caress his lean cheek.
“Absolutely. You most certainly are...my piece, my lucky piece. Now, no more talking. Look at me, babe, come with me.”
With that, he plunged into her hot, slick sheath. Over and over he thrust into her, now fast, now slow. Again and again, he brought them close to ecstasy, until she was begging for release.
She gripped his shoulders, her nails biting into his skin. “Ah, Tony, love me. Love me now!”
One more surge brought them to the heights. Tony let out a triumphant shout as he felt Bonnie lose control.
She was his now.
Gathering her limp body in his embrace, he kissed her bruised lips and urged her to sleep.
Tomorrow they would go to work.

“Beautiful, Bonnie. You look like a queen in that dress.”
She spun around from her reflection in the mirror. The gold satin gown clung lovingly to every inch. The neckline was high with a standing collar. Golden gloves covered her slim arms from wrist to above the elbow. When she turned around, however, that enticing back was revealed. It made his blood leap when he looked at the sweet line of her spine.
To think, this creature was his, Tony exulted. Smiling, he remembered how he had woken up that morning. Bonnie held his sleeping cock in her mouth, her hands caressing his balls. Soon his entire body came awake. She sat astride him and rode him until he bucked like an untried stallion. The morning ended in the shower. As the water cascaded over them, Tony once more brought them pleasure.
“Do you love me, Tony?” Her abrupt question broke his reverie.
“Of course, babe. Who couldn’t love you?”
For a moment, a shadow passed over her face. “Many men.”
“Then they were fools. Tony Banners is no fool. Come on, let’s play.”
She stood in silence as the elevator brought them to the casino floor.
“What shall we play, darling?” He gazed around the smoke filled room. His eyes darted here and there, examining the different playing fields.
She shrugged with indifference. “You choose, Tony.”
“Blackjack.”
The dealer laid the cards in front of him. A ten and a three. Thirteen. Tony turned to Bonnie. “Should I stand pat or try for another card, babe?”
She nodded.
He nodded at the dealer. “Hit me.”
The dealer peeled off another card. “Another card for the lucky man.”
A Queen of hearts. Tony stared riveted to the betraying bitch.
“Twenty three. House wins with nineteen. Place your bets.”
Tony watched with disbelief as the chips were scooped away.
He had lost.
She had lost. Perhaps she was ill.
“Bonnie, are you feeling well?”
“I feel fine, Tony.” But her eyes were sad.
“Come. Let’s try the roulette wheel.”
“Fourteen red.” The croupier gathered up the stack of chips Tony had placed on thirteen black.
Tony shook his head and ran shaky fingers through his curly black hair. “Bonnie?”
At this point in time, he felt hurt more than anything.
“I thought it would win.” She shrugged.
The sweat of desperation trickled down his brow. One more game. They would try one more game. The craps table offered him one last chance.
“Snake eyes.”
They left the casino. In silence, they rode up in the elevator. In silence, he opened the hotel room door.
He had no money left. He had brought only his own cash to the casino tonight, figuring that it would be more than enough to play with. Now he had nothing. Zilch. He turned, his eyes accusing her.
“What the hell is going on?”
“Do you love me, Tony? If I had no money and could not win any more money, would you love me, Tony?” Her voice cracked in the quietude of the room.
“What are you saying? You win. You always win. Except tonight. Why?” He gripped her arms so tightly he knew there would be marks. Gaining control, he released her. “What happened in the casino?”
She moved over to the window and rubbed her arms. She stared unseeing through the tinted glass. “Have you heard the expression ‘lucky in cards, unlucky in love’?”
“No.”
She turned back to him. “Perhaps if you had, you would have been better prepared. If you want me, if you love me, you can have me. But you can’t have luck. It’s one or the other. Choose.” Her voice had gained the strength of steel.
Tony stood unmoving. He looked at the beautiful vision before him. “You. I choose you.”
She smiled with delight. “Ah, Tony!”

The room was dark. Quietly, so as not to wake her, Tony slipped from the queen-sized bed. Bonnie’s face was turned away from him. He had given her the best fucking of his life. He felt he owed her at least that. Holding his shoes in his hands, he tiptoed over to where her purse lay on the bureau. The chips she had won from the night before were still there. With a regretful shrug, he emptied them into his shaving kit. He took them all. Once he left, her luck would surely return. She would regain her money. He sighed with regret. The life he had chosen to live held no room for love, he knew that now. But at least he could give her back her luck. Perhaps one day she would find someone who had no need of money. Someone who could love her for herself. He couldn’t afford to do so. He opened the door to the hall.
“So long, Lady Luck.”
The door swung closed behind him.
Bonnie’s eyes opened wide. He had left. She had hoped he would stay. If only he had, she mourned, he would have found out that the choice was just a test. He could have had it all. He could have had luck. He could have had “Bonne Chance”.
And he could have had love.

He has no mage powers and, as a youngest son, no kingdom to offer her. Still he vows to keep her safe from the evil mage and those that would harm her for her secret. When Talea accidentally exposes her secret to the wrong people, Loran’s brothers and their new soul mates are called in to help.
This story is a very complex and ambitious one. It has many of the elements in sci-fi/fantasy epics—hidden abilities, a quest for sacred objects, multiple story arcs happening simultaneously and truly evil villains. At well over 200 pages, this third installment in the Hearthome series brings the previous heroes and heroines from the first two books back for encore performances. The interaction and dialogue between all the couples was great. ... If you like lots of hot sex scenes, this is the right book for you. Just about everyone hops into bed at one point or another, even the villains. ... In the end, there were still a couple of loose strings in this romantic epic, including Talea’s big secret. I can’t help but wonder if there might not be a fourth installment. If so, count me in!

Neighbors

Well, I spent a total of 2 and one half hours cleaning my steep, six-car length driveway of ice yesterday and today. My dh is disabled and so I'm the one who must do things like this. We live on a cul de sac type of street. Not a development, just about five houses in sight of each other. There I am, an overweight over 50 lady chopping, shoveling, panting and puffing and not one person said, "Do you need help?" Not even a "Hey, lady, pretty impressive."
Now I know why Good Samaritan stories get so much attention!

STRESS!

I've found out something - when I'm stressed out I can not write!
I tried and it's not writer's block. I have the scenes in my head, dialogue, the whole enchilada, but I find myself falling asleep or just staring into space.
We were iced in the last few days. We have this steep drive and it was totally encased in ice. I was ticked. Felt like a prisoner.
Thanks be, I was able to get the drive cleared so we can get out. But instead of taking advantage of this enforced confinement I did other stuff. Important to my career path and my music consulting, but still not writing. Got a deadline. No more dorking around.
